Mining:
The first thing to know is how quickly a shaft can be dug into any material, whether is be earth, ice, stone, etc.
Use the following chart to determine the average speed in which a team of 10 can dig and built supports to keep the mine relatively safe vs. the material being mined (only those digging will be considered as part of the team of 10 if they have the Trade-skill: "Miner".
Mining Speed:
The time it takes to mine 5' into certain materials, constructing a 10' wide, 8' tall shaft will be as follows (remember, this is considering if using the proper tools, supports and manpower of a 10 man team (who have "Miner" as a trade-skill):
Ice: 12 hours.
Earth: Clay compacted earth: 6 hours.
Earth: Normal compacted earth: 4 hours.
Earth: Sand compacted earth: 24 hours.
Rock: Granite or equivelent density: 96 hours (4 days).
Rock: Sandstone or equivelent density: 48 hours (2 days).
Rock: Limestone or equivelent density: 72 hours (3 days)
Sand: Loose desert sand: 18 hours (1 1/2 days)
Occurances:
Discoveries and delays occur in mining, and must be checked for 1 time per 24 hours. An occurance can be a simple delay, a life-threatening situation, or a number of other things which demand the attention of the miners. Roll on the following chart every 24 hours of active digging:

Checking for valuables:
There will be one check to see if something of value has been found for every 1-D12 x 1-D12 feet of tunneling.
Example:
Roll 1-D12 and then another 1-D12.
The first die rolls a 3, and the die second a 5.
Multiply 3x5 (= 15). In 15' of tunneling, a check would be made on the "Findings" chart below.

Game Master:
Use the following chart at your discretion when mining 5 leagues (15 miles) deep, and deeper. This is a dangerous feat in and of itself, and is usually left to the hands of master miners. After digging at least 5 leagues (15 miles) into the earth’s surface, begin rolling on Chart #1 to see what can be discovered per 100' of tunnel excavated:
